Trompe l’œil painters:

Julian Beever
UK. Amazing and quite rightly famous pavement trompe l’œils. You have seen this on an email sometime. Extreme anamorphics in chalk.
Raymond Campbell
UK. "traditional" trompe l’œils, you have seen his work somewhere I am sure. There will be better links, Google him.
Shakeel Siddiqui (not the comedian or another painter of same name)
Canada & Pakistan. "traditional" trompe l’œil canvases, working worldwide. This is the best link I can find, there may be better ones out there.

Some of my influences:

Patrick Woodroffe.
Patrick Woodroffe had a book out in 1986, called "A Closer Look". He descibes many methods and mediums and was a siginificant starting point for my learning to paint. Plus he is a genius.
