Grisaille panel,

grisaille comes from the french for grey (gris):

1) a method of painting in grey monochrome, often to imitate sculpture; or

2) a painting or stained-glass window of this kind.

There is also a cartellino: or note, a bit of paper apparently stuck on to the painting for effect.
