Villa, Cannes, South of France 1998
Kitchen: this mural was executed in oil-glazes over a encaustic-primer,
on ceramic tiles.
It is hard to appreciate the total effect from these photographs, but every scene in this mural,
(which extends over two floors!) is designed so that if you are the same height as the owner, and enter rooms via
predictable doorways, then all the painted scenes seamlessly join real views through the windows. The breakfast area
murals of parterres are deliberately done to an "overlooking" perspective to counter-act the otherwise
somewhat claustrophobic nature of this windowless room.

Swimming-pool ante-room: this mural was executed in oil-glazes over eggshell, on plaster walls. Of all the features visible, only the iron-work gate, lanterns, window and grill are real; all others are trompe l'oeil.
