"Adam: the Mind of God Stirring the Air Above the Clay, Just Before the Creation of Man" also simply known as "Adam".

The representation is of the air (including dust and dead leaves lying in the area) swirling in a small whirlwind above the ground as the clay is pulled up to form the first man.
This is made in clear resin with embedded leaves, height 110 cms tall, base 30 x 30cms.
The resin was built up layer by layer over a clay former, incorporating the leaves within these. The clay surface was striated to give the impression of musculature below the surface, enhancing the sense of transparency, whilst the final exterior layer is smooth like skin. There are between 12 and 20 layers of resin (each taking 12 hours to cure!), and the whole object took about two weeks to make. The clay was then excavated from within the now hard hollow shell. Though this is resin, the process means that this is a one-off, as the former was broken to release the sculpture.
The acrylic base was made bespoke for this work. Completed May 1995.
Now in private collection, Dubai.
