A ceiling for the top of a stairwell in a late 18th century house..

In this commission the clients wanted something to bring the clouds of my mural in their London flat to their family home, as well as putting the family's stamp on the work.
The style and composition were researched to be contemporary to the building's origin and its creator.
The process of my painting was filmed and some of the material used in the forthcoming DVD by Imogen Heap, "Everything Inbetween, The Story of Ellipse".

The medium is acrylic on to emulsion on plaster. Completed September 2007.

The motif in the roundel symbolises a scene from an opera the house builder funded in 1790. In the opera, two lovers meet in a maze in the centre of a garden, hence cupid peering over the wall. The stairwell has in effect become this scene.
