This was a commission for a swimming pool room in Hadley Wood, Middlesex. Colours and scene were requested by the client. The balustrade and stonework were painted to match the stonework of the statuary and floor slabs.
The balustrade is curved as a visual "cheat" to allow for a multitude of view points, though the step only visually falls into place from the opposite side of the pool.
