This was a commission for the mezzanine offices of Frankle Trimmings, in Bethnal Green, London.
This mezzanine office floor was built into the ceiling space of a haberdashery warehouse. The ceiling is unusual in that the building used to be a cinema, hence all the art-deco features. There is no source of natural light, so something was necessary to create a sense of space and light. The lighting chosen is all true white light, to complement the feel.
Also there are trompe l’œil girders between real features to link them together.
Emulsion and acrylics, 180 square metres. July 2004.
