way to Cattles Drift and we got there at 2.30 P.m.

January 9th
We started at 7. A.m from Cattle"s Drift to Battle"s End got their at 11.30 A.m and camped there for the night.

January 10th
We left Battle"s End at 6.30 A.m and got to De Jaagers Drift at 10 P.m us and the Drags had to man the trenches all the night.

January 11th
We had to strike our camp at 3.30 Am and file out at 4.30 A.m and started off for Blood River we got about 15 miles and then we halted and they said this is our camping ground.

January 12th
Moved off for Vryheid

came in contact with the boers at Scheepers Nek we had done 10 miles and we could not get right through so we camped for the night we lost one man of the Dragoons got captured.

January 13th
We moved off for Vryheid and done about 4 miles it was reported all clear on the berg and at Scheepers Nek we was split up some with the guns and some with convoy. so we got into Vryheid at 2.30 Pm without any opposition.

January 14th
We stopped in Vryheid under orders to turn out in five minutes notice and the town was out of bounds for all troops not on duty. the Dragoons went out on recon-
